Meet Our Newest Designer | Rashida Coleman-Hale

It may be that we need to make a new series up starting today. We currently have 7 new artists whose talents will grace our products with their sparkle. Over the next few months, we'll be sharing profiles for designers that will take us well into 2013. It's all very exciting to be working with such talented artists from many different parts of the world all with such varying styles. Stay closely tuned because tomorrow I'll be making another introduction!

•••••••••••••••••••••••

To kick things off, we're thrilled to announce we'll be working with our first quilt-industry-seasoned designer: Rashida Coleman-Hale, whose current Washi collection for Timeless Treasures has been making such an impact. We are so happy that Rashida chose Cloud9 to work with next - and you'll see her collection debut just before the fall market in time for a December '12 delivery.

Washi by Rashida Coleman-Hale for Timeless Treasures

Rashida Coleman-Hale has been making things ever since she can remember. She studied Fashion Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Not sure if fashion was her calling, she traded in her sewing machine for a computer and worked as a freelance graphic designer. Her passion for sewing was rekindled in 2006 after the arrival of her first child and she began the blog I Heart Linen, to document her re-born creative life and life as a stay-at-home mommy.

Rashida spent much of her youth in Tokyo, Japan where her great love for linen began. Her experiences there have completely influenced her work and it's style. Her work has been featured in SewNews, Stitch, SewHip!, ReadyMade, Burda Style and Quilting Arts magazines and also on popular blogs such as Ohdeedoh, Design Sponge, Decor8, and Craftzine, Sew, Mama, Sew and True Up. Her first book, 'I Love Patchwork' was published by Interweave press in Fall 2009 and her second book, 'Zakka Style' was published in 2011 by Stash Books.

Rashida lives in Atlanta with her husband and their 3 children. Read more about her crafty life at iheartlinen.typepad.com
