A-quilt-marketing we will go!

We're in! We will  most definitely be at the Houston Quilt Market in October. Now the fun (read stressful) part begins... planning for our little booth. Have come up with a concept and will now have to use some brain cells from my brother to help me engineer the workings.  Of course, no affordable decorating plan is complete without a visit to IKEA, too.

I've been chatting with a quilt designer lately about working up a technical detail pattern for this Sunshine crib quilt I designed. I would love to have this at the booth and for a free project sheet for you. Any quilters out there? Does this look doable? I'm a conceptualist when it comes to designing quilts, but not very practical. Would love some opinions.

  1. Cool! I'll see you there! Curved and bias piecing kicks the skill level up a bit, but I think this one is doable. Have you seen Dale Fleming's Pieced Curves So Simple technique? That makes curved piecing a snap, even for beginners. I think Ms. Lizzy House has incorporated it into a pattern or two of hers. And with some tweaking it could be worked into this design. 4. Delightful design and definitely do-able!

The biased cut pieces can be tricky in the sense that bias stretches. Extra care just has to be taken when sewing... good pining helps as well.
The circles could be done easily if each one was simply appliqued on top of the sun beams. Bulk could be reduced by cutting away the excess fabric behind each circle.

I particularly like how the yellow and white polka-dot sunbeams run into the matching border/binding area. Very sharp and very sweet!

  6. The design is lovely!!! Lovelyyyyyy!!

I'm not a professional quilter, only I can say that sew circles is not easy... I think that Victoria is right to propose applique the fabric.

(sorry, my english is very bad....)
