Here's a tutorial for this simple to make, yet, cuddeltastic quilt, endorsed by this handsome young lad.
For those who have never worked with flannel before, it's preferable to pre-wash and dry the fabrics. Because flannel can fray you might want to run a zig zag stitch over the raw cut edges before tossing it in the washer. Here we have planned for a 1/4" seam, but some people may be more comfortable with a wider seam- anywhere up to 1/2". Just make necessary adjustments to the cuts if you plan to increase the seams.

This wouldn't take very long at all to put together and I bet it's a canny quilt to cuddle.
ReplyDeleteSo cute and easy. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilt. I was just wondering at step 3 when you are cutting the 10 x 9.5" squares from the strips that have been sewn together into rows would the sewing start coming apart after a few washes because you are actually cutting through the sewing that is holding the strips together.
ReplyDeleteYou do cut through the sewing but you will sew over the cut part when you sew the squares together. If you are concerned about it coming apart just set your machine to sew small stitches. Hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteThis is my first quilt so maybe I've missed something...but for the white fabric you list requirements as 1/2yd then say to cut (3)3.5in strips and (4)2.5 in strips which comes to 20.5 in total. Isn't 1/2yd only 18in? Have I goofed somewhere or is that a pattern error?
